They provide a variety of First Aid Courses, both online and in-person. The team at FACE recognizes that acquiring new skills can be intimidating. To those who have never undergone training in First Aid, it may seem complex and challenging to learn how to administer it when necessary.
Enrolling in any of the First Aid courses offered by FACE enables you to learn the theoretical aspect at your own speed and in the comfort of your own residence before participating in the practical segment with an instructor. During the face-to-face session, the instructor will provide you with demonstrations, address your queries, and evaluate your performance.
After you have been evaluated for your comprehension of the course material and your ability to administer CPR correctly, you will receive certification in First Aid that is nationally recognized throughout Australia.
What First Aid Courses are Available?
FACE presents its pupils with four alternatives, namely:
- HLTAID009: This option is for those who only want to learn how to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- HLTAID011: This option encompasses both CPR and First Aid training.
- HLTAID011: Similar to the second option, this choice also includes training in CPR and First Aid.
- Zoom First Aid Training: The core units of competency in this option include HLTAID011, which covers First Aid, and HLTAID010, which includes training on Basic Emergency Life Support, as well as HLTAID009, which teaches how to perform CPR.
Which First Aid Course Should I Take?
That’s an excellent question, and I’m happy to answer it. If you’re solely interested in acquiring the skill of administering life-saving CPR, then we recommend taking our HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR Only) course. This program concentrates on instructing you on the DRSABCD protocol, where you will learn how to deliver rescue breaths and perform cardiac chest compressions on individuals of all ages, including adults, children, and infants.
The course is composed of self-paced reading material and a 1.5-hour in-person session with your instructor. During the practical segment, the instructor will demonstrate how to administer CPR to a manikin, and you will then be evaluated as you perform CPR on the manikin for a minimum of two minutes continuously.
It’s important to be aware that if you’re unable to kneel on the ground and administer CPR, you won’t be able to obtain First Aid certification. This is due to the fact that during a real-life emergency, it’s not possible to place the casualty on a table to accommodate the inability to treat them on the ground. Also, the change in the way CPR is taught in Australia was mandated as a result of previous legal action.
You may wonder why someone would be interested in learning only CPR, as it appears unusual to acquire only a portion of the abilities required during an emergency. That’s why we recommend that anyone looking to learn from scratch or renew an outdated First Aid certificate should enroll in the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (Includes CPR) course, which offers comprehensive training.
The training for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (Includes CPR) is divided into two parts: online theory and in-person instruction. You may complete the online theory at your own pace, followed by a three-hour session with an instructor where you will be provided with demonstrations and evaluated on your skills. During the course, you’ll gain knowledge on how to manage injuries such as fractures, bites, stings, as well as cold/heat-related injuries. Additionally, you will learn to assess when something is wrong and requires medical attention.
Suppose you’re a parent or grandparent of young children. For less than $100.00, you can obtain national certification and have the assurance that you can provide First Aid in situations where someone’s life is at risk or when they require First Aid assistance. Learning First Aid is an invaluable life skill that you will retain for the rest of your life.
In Australia, CPR certification is valid for one year, while First Aid certification remains valid for three years before requiring renewal. It’s important to note that you don’t necessarily need to have current First Aid certification to provide First Aid, as long as you don’t attempt to offer assistance beyond your level of expertise or that may further jeopardize someone’s life. Learning First Aid skills at a younger age allows for a longer period to refine and master the techniques, making them even more valuable over time.
As the cost of medical care continues to rise, it is becoming increasingly difficult for many people to afford a doctor’s visit.
